Description
‘Braeburn’ is a apple cultivar of Malus domestica selected for its named fruit qualities and orchard performance. Bred in Motueka around 1952 'Braeburn' has become a firm favourite in the Kiwi orchard. Crisp, firm and juicy with yellowish green skin that is broadly striped with red. Available in New Zealand. External cultivar references describe ‘Braeburn’ as follows: Braeburn was the first of the new wave of bi-colored supermarket apple varieties, and re-established the importance of flavor in commercial apples. The Braeburn is a cultivar of apple that is firm to the touch with a red/orange vertical streaky appearance on a yellow/green background. Its color intensity varies with different growing conditions.
