Description

Hetlina / Montys Surprise is a multi-graft Malus domestica tree carrying 2 named apple cultivars on one plant. This format is useful where garden space is limited, because the tree can provide more than one harvest window, flavour profile, or pollination partner from a single planting. Hetlina / Montys Surprise is a double-graft apple combination carrying two varieties on one tree. Hetlina - An old European variety which has mostly red skin and crisp firm flesh. Medium sized and early maturing. Disease resistant. Monty's Surprise - Very large eating and cooking apple that matures in April. Both these apples are very high in anti-oxidants. Deciduous. Recent research has identified these two apples as part of a group called 'Health Apples' or 'Anti-Cancer' apples because of the exceptionally high levels of flavonoids. Matures to around 3.5 m tall by 3 m wide.
