Description
aka Quince or Cydonia apple Quince. A most attractive fruiting tree with large pale green fruit. The skin is a soft yellow when ripe. The white flesh is aromatic with a taste that carries a hint of pineapple. Tastes best when cooked or mixed with other fruit. Hardy and tolerant but happiest in the sun. Deciduous. Quince have a slightly different habit from other orchard trees in that the fruit blossom is borne on the current seasons growth therefore it is best to only lightly prune. Just take out any spindly branches in order to keep the tree open. Suitable for most NZ climates. Flower colour: White. Habit: Tree Multi Branched. Leaves: Deciduous, Green.
