Description
Rugosa - Species. Glossy deep green foliage and enormous (10cm) flowers of pure white that are single and richly scented. A circle of golden stamens highlights the blooms which repeat well from Spring-Autumn. Lovely Autumn foliage colour and red hips. Introduced to England in 1870. This is hardy Rugosa tolerates poor and sandy soil, coastal salt spray, wind, and copes well in little shade. Originally found in areas of Russia, China and Japan. Hips are used for jam, jelly and tea. Flower colour: White. Habit: Shrub. Leaves: Deciduous, Green.
