Description
‘Empire’ is a apple cultivar of Malus domestica selected for its named fruit qualities and orchard performance. Empire is a Malus domestica cultivar. A cross between McIntosh and Delicious with a good sweet vinous flavour and a white to cream coloured flesh, and the skin is predominantly red. Easy to grow and partially self-fertile and will benefit from being pollinated by another variety such as Braeburn, Cornish Aromatic, Ellison's Orange and Golden Delicious. External cultivar references describe ‘Empire’ as follows: One of the best McIntosh-style apples, with a good sweet vinous flavor, and easy to grow.
