Unknown. Originated in Denmark; introduced 1797 but much older. Disease resistance: Poor. An early season apple that ripens in summer. Gravenstein is an extremely old heritage apple, originating in Denmark, 1669, although it is believed the original seedling may have been discovered in Italy.
