Description
Irish Peach is a very early-ripening Irish heritage apple from 1820, one of the first apples of the NZ season. Sold by Wairere Nursery as a heritage apple on MM116 stock (3.5 x 3 m), it bears green fruit with faint red stripes and high-quality flesh of very good flavour. Fruitfool NZ records harvest in January-February with an upright spreading tree; flavour fades quickly after picking, so fruit is best eaten straight from the tree, though it can also be juiced. A poor keeper that needs a pollinator such as Egremont Russet. Also listed by The Plant Company NZ.
