Description

‘Martini’ (also known as Grossherzogs Liebling) is an old German dessert apple found as a chance seedling near Kollmar in Holstein in 1875 and named for Martinstag, around which it ripens. It bears medium-sized, conic fruit with yellowish-green skin carrying a red blush and red striping; the creamy-white flesh is firm and crisp with a sweet, slightly sprightly flavour. The tree is moderately vigorous and spreading and crops heavily, and the fruit keeps around three months in cold storage. It was named Streuobstsorte des Jahres 2011 in northern Germany.
